We love POP! We really love getting people up and dancing to great tracks that makes us feel ALIVE and captures a special heart rendering moment.
POP to us is such a broad thing and not one that we would necessarily wish to define or label and that's what makes it special and so unique.
Anyway, why bother, to label, proclaim or annonce what it could, should mean when it means so many things to so many people.
We love the diversity, the differences and the forever changing that POP is, as someone once said 'it's fast, fun, fresh and friendly'.
Independent POP and we especially mean INDEPENDENT pop, represent to us POP at its best, doing it for yourself, with a brilliant 'up against IT ness',
that is fresh, raw, honest and NOT polished, or made to shine artificially or messed about with. We love the LIVE, immediate quality and suddeness
of emotion that relates to us and reaffirms that we are uniquely here and that its 'great to be alive TODAY!'
We love pop that is genuine, true, fragile, pure and young at heart, makes mistakes and is all the better for that reason,
which also in turn makes it CLEVER without wishing or wanting to be clever and sets its standard apart,
completely apart from the rotten rubbish that is so very much a part of the world that we live in.
Also! We recognise the importance of other musics influence and impact on POP - the 60s girl group explosion, heartbreak and the ba ba ba ba ba ba
'will he still love me tomorrow?' moments that tear at our heart strings whilst set our feet on fire. Who, WHO can deny or refuse the poppier
moments of punk, which made us look again at what was genuine and more appropriately, what was not, which through initiation gave us our very own
BULLSHIT DETECTORS and ideas of independence which impacted the 80s independent POP renaissance with the same ideas and call to arms for a fierce
independance and definate assertion for itself. From that time, to this moment and especially the next one, we want Big Pink Cake to be SPECIAL to everyone and share the love
that we have for jangling guitars, the treble turned up, more and more tambourines, melodies that make you get up and dance, a sensitivity that makes IT for
the listener, toe tapper or dancer: a real, personal and meaningful experience to their life.
